Our all-inclusive kitten adoption fee is $2,800.
This price includes a generous five-year health guarantee and much more.
At Theresa Purrs Maine Coons, we match each kitten with a carefully selected family for a set price that reflects their outstanding quality and pedigree. We do not charge extra for rare coat colors or traits. Here, every kitten is special.
At Theresa Purrs Maine Coons, we offer a health guarantee that covers more than most breeders. We ensure every kitten is protected immediately and for the long term, so you can feel confident and at ease.
Important Note: The complete terms of our health guarantee are detailed in our Kitten Purchase Contract. What follows are highlights of our guarantee provisions. The contract terms always supersede this summary.
What does the 72-hour initial health guarantee cover?
We guarantee that all kittens are free of genetic, infectious, and parasitic diseases at the time of adoption. Within 72 hours of taking your kitten home, we require you to have your new family member examined by a licensed veterinarian.
If a minor, treatable condition is diagnosed:
If a life-threatening genetic condition is diagnosed:
What genetic conditions are covered by the long-term guarantee?
We offer a five-year genetic health replacement guarantee covering the following serious hereditary conditions:
If your cat is diagnosed with any of these conditions by a licensed veterinarian before their 5th birthday, you are entitled to receive an additional kitten at no charge. You are not required to return your affected cat.
Why do you require pet insurance?
We contractually require all kitten families to maintain Trupanion or an equivalent pet insurance policy on their cat for the duration of the cat's life—the same coverage we maintain on our own cats.
Here's why this matters:
Despite responsible breeding, comprehensive health testing, and excellent care from both breeder and owner, cats are living creatures and unexpected health issues can arise. Not every medical condition can be prevented or predicted, no matter how careful we are.
Veterinary care has advanced dramatically, offering life-saving treatments that weren't available years ago. However, these treatments can be expensive. Pet insurance ensures you can provide the best possible care for your Maine Coon without facing devastating financial decisions.
What makes Trupanion insurance special?
We specifically recommend Trupanion because of their unique benefits:
What happens if I don't maintain insurance?
Maintaining pet insurance is a contractual requirement of your Kitten Purchase Agreement. Failing to maintain coverage may void portions of your health guarantee and contract protections.
We take this requirement seriously because we want to ensure every kitten we place has access to proper veterinary care throughout their life, regardless of the cost of treatment.
Does the health guarantee cover everything?
Our health guarantee specifically covers the conditions outlined in our contract. It does not cover:
The health guarantee protects you against genetic conditions we screen for and health issues present at the time of adoption. It does not guarantee your cat will never become ill or injured during their lifetime—which is precisely why insurance coverage is so important.
Questions About Your Specific Situation?
Every kitten and every family is unique. If you have questions about how our health guarantee applies to your specific circumstances, please contact us directly. We're happy to discuss the details and ensure you understand the protections we provide.
Remember: The complete, legally binding terms of our health guarantee are contained in the Kitten Purchase Contract. All kitten families receive and review this contract before finalizing their adoption. Please read it carefully and ask questions about anything that's unclear.

Please be sure before placing a deposit!
Theresa Purrs Maine Coons accepts deposits via Venmo, Zelle, wire transfer, or credit card. Final payment is expected to be paid in cash at the time of pickup. **Our credit card processing company charges a 3.25% service fee for credit card transactions.
How about one of each? All joking aside, you really can’t go wrong with a Maine Coon kitten of either sex. Theresa Purrs Maine Coons’ males and females are equally outgoing, inquisitive, affectionate, and adorable—each with their own personality. The only real difference is that male Maine Coons tend to be about 20% larger than their female counterparts.
No. While many breeders insist on spaying or neutering their kittens before they leave, we choose to carefully select adopters we trust to comply with our requirement to spay or neuter their kittens when they are old enough to do so safely. Maine Coons are more sensitive to anesthesia than many breeds of pedigreed cats, and are also prone to certain orthopedic conditions and injuries that are linked to early spay or neuter.
Theresa Purrs Maine Coons' kittens stay with Mama Cat and their siblings until they are approximately 14-16 weeks old and ready to make a healthy transition to your home. We know it's hard to wait! But taking home a happy, healthy, confident kitten that is fully vaccinated, well-behaved, and prepared for the exciting changes that lie ahead is worth it!
Yes, you are welcome to schedule an appointment to visit with your kitten once before pickup, after they have received their second round of vaccinations. We limit the number of visits to protect the health of the kittens and limit the stress on Mama Cat.
Maine Coons are the largest domestic cat breed. At Theresa Purrs Maine Coons, our cats come from strong bloodlines known for their sturdy bones, solid muscles, and balanced build. Adult males usually weigh between 16 and 20 pounds or more. Females are smaller than males but still much bigger than most house cats, typically reaching 11 to 15 pounds when fully grown.
With proper care, Maine Coons can live into their mid-teens.
Yes, Maine Coon cats get along well with well-behaved, friendly dogs and most other breeds of household cats, with a few exceptions. Before bringing home any kitten, it is imperative that you have full command of your dog to include a strong recall capability.
Yes, our kittens integrate seamlessly into family homes with people of all ages. We take pride in the extensive socialization of our kittens and their resulting love for family life.
We strongly prefer that our clients make arrangements to travel to our home for pickup. Visiting a breeder is the best way to keep from getting scammed and to be sure you are not supporting unethical backyard breeding practices.
Go Home Day is an exciting time, and we want your visit to be both rewarding and memorable. Your appointment will last up to 1 hour, and you should plan to spend most or all of that time with us. We will be ready and focused on you and your kitten during your visit. To help everything run smoothly, please arrive on time—not early or late. This helps keep things less stressful for your kitten and shows respect for other pet buyers who have appointments before or after yours.
No. Blue eyes are not allowed per the Maine Coon breed standard (except in white cats), and the dominant blue eye gene (in non-white cats) is associated with increased health risks including total deafness and the feline version of Waardenburg syndrome, which is linked to fetal and premature death. All Maine Coon kittens have blue eyes at birth but these transition to gold, green, or copper by the time they go home. If you have your heart set on a longhaired cat with blue eyes, we highly recommend considering a Ragdoll or Birman.
No, we do not.
Theresa Purrs Maine Coons preservation breeding program is dedicated to producing healthy, well-socialized, high-quality kittens for adoption into responsible pet homes.
